Chavez Injury is Vague

"Inflammation." This word is one that is thrown around relentlessly, and basically means that there is an injury present in some form or another. This is the "diagnosis" that was given in reference to the right shoulder of Eric Chavez following an MRI exam this week, but in actuality, inflammation is not a diagnosis - it is a sign of injury.

The A’s are in a wait-and-see mode with Chavez right now, as he is going to sit out a full two weeks on the DL while receiving rehab. Again, don’t be surprised if this ends up being something more substantial - perhaps a labrum tear. This is a common injury for players who dive and fall on outstretched arms, i.e. third baseman. See: Ryan Zimmerman.

Mixed league owners should not have Chavez on their roster, and only in the deepest of AL-only leagues should he be owned and reserved on the DL.
