2008 thus far has definitely been injury-laden for many of the superstars of MLB - throwing gigantic wrenches into the gears of most fantasy teams.
Now, one of baseball’s best pitchers is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Monday for his right elbow. He has apparently been experiencing persisting soreness in his elbow over his past three to four starts.
One of the more telling quotes from Jake Peavy has been when he said, "It’s not like a normal soreness. That’s obviously the reason we’re missing the start is because it’s not normal."
"Normal soreness" typically describes muscle soreness. The fact that Peavy can differentiate "normal" soreness from soreness that is "not normal" is cause for some concern.
Until the MRI results are back, consider Peavy day-to-day; however, do not be surprised if San Diego places him on the DL because the Padres have been terrible this season and are in last place. There is no need to rush their ace back to the rotation if he is ailing.
