The big news, of course, is that Jorge Posada has a torn Subscapularis (one of the four rotator cuff muscles). Don’t say I didn’t warn you!
Other injuries of note:
John Smoltz is once again having complaints of soreness in his right shoulder . He opened the season on the DL (retroactive to March 21st) with soreness and what was described as tightness in "the Trapezius area" of his right shoulder.
For baseball pitchers, this typically points to involvement of the Supraspinatus muscle, which is one of the four rotator cuff muscles, and is located directly underneath the Upper Trapezius. Its’ origin rests in the Supraspinous Fossa of the Scapula.
Smoltz struggled with shoulder soreness in his right shoulder for much of the latter half of the 2007 season. It is uncertain at this time if Smoltz will require another round on the DL, but with the season still young, the Braves should exercise caution with the 40-year-old ace.
David Ortiz: If you are as big as Papi, you should not be diving head first. Ever. Terry Francona described his head-first slide into first base as a "car accident." High comedy. The right knee bruise should be a day-to-day thing, and he will likely be back in the lineup early in the new week.
Michael Young: Young had to leave today’s game with a sore right calf. He has needed to exit 3 of the past 6 games early due to this calf issue, so do not be surprised if he misses the next game in an attempt to rest and allow for some healing.
Grady Sizemore : It looked as though the right ankle sprain he suffered on Saturday was minor, as he was able to run full speed from second base after having originally tweaked it. He was out of the lineup today due to lingering soreness and swelling , but do not be surprised if he is back in action by mid-week. Once the swelling subsides, he will return.
Joba Chamberlain : The left hamstring strain he has been receiving treatment for is apparently minor, as he was back out there today, looking good in the process. He struck out two of the batters he faced in the 8th inning.

Update on Kendrick? I read he had a “setback”.
Howie Kendrick is attempting to come back from a hamstring strain, and is still feeling sore when he pushes the envelope while running. It does not sound like anything major. He should be good to go by the weekend, I would think.
